I have been 'talking tennis' for nearly 30 years. Having begun my broadcasting career in 1985 on local radio I started commentating and reporting on tennis in 1990 for the BBC World Service. Since then I have covered nearly 100 major championships, more than 20 Davis Cup and Fed Cup finals, plus countless other tournaments and ties.
I moved from Radio primarily into Television in 1997 and since 2002 I have worked mainly for Sky Sports as a lead commentator, interviewer and reporter. My other clients currently include Eurosport, Tennis Channel, the ITF, the Wimbledon Channel, ATP Media, ATP Tennis Radio and the WTA.
In January 2019 I launched THE 2 BARRYS TENNIS TAKEAWAY podcast in partnership with my long-time friend and colleague, former player Barry Cowan.
I have also written various articles on tennis for a number of different publications, conducted on court trophy presentations and performed MC duties.
I am a former Chairman of the Lawn Tennis Writers' Association and now its Treasurer.
